GREAT DECISIONS

Have you ever heard about or seen the Great Decisions programs produced by the Foreign Policy Association and aired by PBS Public Television?

You can experience these informative, educational, motivating and enlightening programs, along with in-depth discussions by being a member of the World Affairs Council of Rhode Island.

Thanks to a special arrangement with the Foreign Policy Association (www.fpa.org) in New York City, WACRI members can see, in the comfort of the Hope Club prior to our monthly programs, the Great Decisions Television series videos, the longest running television program (21st season) solely devoted to international affairs and foreign policy.  And then, in the company of peers and friends, you can participate in a lively discussion on each topic.

Each show brings together experts on a specific topic (see our 2007 schedule below), in order to examine all sides of a foreign policy issue

Each month during our program year (September through June), thanks to the efforts and initiative of Professor John Browning (5 – 6 PM preceding each of our meetings with a video and discussion group) you can:

  • View a ½ hour video on the subject of the month, on a large screen;
  • Learn about U.S. foreign policy and global issues;
  • Discuss multiple viewpoints in a group setting; and
  • Take part in a national opinion ballot survey on policy issues.
